The photo below is from May 2017, and shows the forward cabin, and the vertical supports to which a hull liner will be attached. You can review that job by clicking here.

I used 1/4-inch marine plywood for the liner, and I began by making templates–one for the port side, and one for starboard. It’s not necessary that the liner extend all the way to the bunk tops, as the upholstery will be at least 4 inches thick. Thus, as you can see in the photo below, I positioned the low side of the template slightly above the bunk tops.

After transferring the pattern to the plywood, I cut the two pieces.

For ease of installation, and maintenance, I decided to cut each side into three strips. After cutting, I used a 1/4 round bit in the router to round off the edges.

Here I’ve temporarily attached the liner to the hull.

Finally, after two coats of primer and one coat of paint, the job is done.

These strips have been set aside and final installation will come later this summer.
