8/11/25: Catching up 2
It’s still Summer 2023, and I had a few two-loop handrails left over from the restoration project.

Another coat of varnish has them looking pretty good:

The main salon and galley area are surrounded by teak handholds, and the two compression posts in that area provide additional places to grab. The standing area in the forward cabin is a small enough so that handholds are unnecessary. The head contains the forward compression post, which provides a sturdy handhold, but I installed one of the two-loopers above the sink, and it doubles as a towel bar:

Just a few more pictures from Summer 2023 before moving on:

Late in the Fall I gave a seminar about the restoration and it was well attended and well received. Mom and Bill were guests of honor.

Finally, after the first post-restoration summer, I was happy to put RUCKLE to bed for the winter. I stayed in the water longer than I should have, and took too long to get her covered, and I didn’t keep on top of the brightwork as well as I should have (more on that later). Making a frame and covering her with a tarp, however, gave me my first real time off from RUCKLE in a very long time — time in which I knew there was plenty I needed to do, but I was in no rush to do it.
